Rosneft is the leader of the Russian petroleum industry and the world’s largest public oil and gas company by liquid hydrocarbon production* and reserves. The Company’s share in global oil market is 6 %, its hydrocarbons output in 2020 reached 256.2 million tons of oil equivalent. Company is currently one of the leaders in natural gas production among Russian independent producers. Gas production in 2020 exceeded 62.8 bln cubic metres. The Company is the leader in crude oil refining in Russia and owns 13 refineries in Russia, as well as has shares in 5 refineries abroad. In addition, Rosneft operates a retail network of 3,057 filling stations.

Rosneft’s exploration and production geography spans across all key oil and gas provinces in Russia. The Company operates in 23 countries including Germany, China, Italy, India, Norway, Qatar, Egypt, Mozambique, Indonesia, Cuba and others.
Rosneft has been a member of the UN Global Compact for more than 10 years. In 2018, the Company confirmed its commitment to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals announcing 5 strategic priority goals: Good health and well-being, Affordable and clean energy, Decent work and economic growth, Climate action and Partnerships for the goals.

Environmental care is an integral part of the corporate culture and social responsibility of Rosneft. The Company’s environmental agenda is defined in the Carbon Management Plan 2035 and main directions of the Company’s environmental development. These documents define Rosneft’s key sustainability, emission reduction and low-carbon projects goals, and regulate the Company’s activities in the area of water and waste management, land reclamation, and implementation of a large-scale biodiversity conservation program.

The Carbon Management Plan, one of the key documents on Rosneft’s environmental agenda, envisages Company’s long-term climate goals to 2035, including reducing upstream emission intensity by 30% by 2035 and prevention of 20 mln tons of CO2 equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions. Rosneft will also continue to implement its energy saving and associated petroleum gas utilization program. At that, Rosneft is planning to increase the gas share up to more than 25% in its total portfolio.
